Shiba Inu Soars to Best Q3 Performance Since 2021, October Outlook Uncertain
Shiba Inu's (SHIB) third quarter of 2026 has been its strongest in five years, with the cryptocurrency recovering alongside the global market. As of September 23, SHIB had recorded a +44.1% cumulative return for the quarter, marking its best Q3 performance since 2021.
This recovery was driven by the macroeconomic backdrop, including the total cryptocurrency market capitalization breaking out of a prolonged consolidation from $2.15 trillion to $2.89 trillion. Historically, SHIB has struggled in September, delivering an average return of just +5.5%. However, in 2026, it transitioned into consecutive monthly gains following a 24% correction in June.
The coin's price action on the weekly chart confirms a local structural reversal, breaking out to the upside after forming a double-bottom reversal pattern. The momentum established in September has investors looking at October's historical statistics, known as 'Uptober', which have an average return of +167.5% for SHIB.
While this figure is driven by an anomalous 833.6% surge in October 2021, the median return stands at a more conservative +6.04%. The current situation differs from previous cycles as SHIB enters October on a sustained quarterly uptrend rather than decline.
