Smaller Holders Exit as Bitcoin Reclaims $85K
Bitcoin's recent breakout above $85K has been accompanied by significant changes in its holder base, according to data from CryptoRank. During the July-August shakeout, wallets holding between 0.1-1 BTC and those holding between 1-10 BTC showed signs of capitulation, with a total of 69,494 wallets disappearing from circulation.
This loss of conviction among smaller Bitcoin holders has contributed to a concentration of supply in the hands of less reactive holders, who are less likely to dump their coins into another rally. This phenomenon can be seen as bullish for the market, as it reduces the amount of sell pressure that can weigh on prices.
The timing of this decline is also noteworthy, as it occurred before Bitcoin broke above $85K for the first time since January. This suggests that smaller holders had already reduced their exposure to Bitcoin before momentum returned to the market.
