Smarter Web Company raises £2.2 million to cut Coinbase debt
The Smarter Web Company PLC has raised £2.2 million by selling 2,883,000 ordinary shares at approximately £0.75 per share. The transaction was part of a subscription agreement first announced on December 24, 2025. The company will retain about 98.25% of the gross proceeds, with the remaining ordinary shares issued under the agreement yet to be sold totaling 38,330,788.
The proceeds from this share sale will be used to reduce the company's strategic credit facility with Coinbase. The loan, currently at £19.0 million, will be trimmed to approximately £17.0 million once the funds are received. This loan is secured against the company’s Bitcoin holdings and can be repaid without additional charges at the company’s discretion.
The Smarter Web Company operates in digital services, including web design, development, and digital marketing, serving over 500 client websites. The company has a Bitcoin treasury policy, using Bitcoin as its primary treasury reserve asset.
