SoFi's Stablecoin Settlement Breakthrough Boosts Stock
SoFi Technologies' stock jumped as much as 5% on Tuesday due to a significant development in its partnership with Mastercard. The companies announced that stablecoin settlement is now live across SoFi Bank's entire debit and credit card program, marking a major milestone in their collaboration.
This move makes SoFi the first nationally chartered bank to go live with stablecoin settlement across Mastercard's global network. The company's Big Business Banking platform allows merchants to receive settlement funds around the clock without holding stablecoins or changing their existing payment systems.
Despite this positive news, shares of SOFI remain down 31% in 2026, despite strong underlying numbers. Management raised its full-year revenue outlook but left its earnings forecast unchanged, leaving investors wanting clearer profit conversion even as sales keep growing.
The partnership with Mastercard is part of SoFi's broader digital-asset push, which also includes a recent agreement to list SoFiUSD and expand its crypto liquidity through a partnership with Payward, the parent company of Kraken.
