Solana Activates Transaction V1 with Tripled Capacity

Solana's capacity has just been expanded with the activation of Transaction V1 on September 15, increasing the maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes.

This upgrade allows developers to bundle more instructions, signatures, and data into a single atomic transaction, making it easier for complex operations to be performed without splitting them across multiple transactions.

The change does not affect network speed or throughput, but it may make Solana more viable for applications that previously required workarounds, such as those involving large proofs or multiple signatures.

Adoption is the next test for Transaction V1, with wallets and indexers needing to support the new format before its additional capacity can be utilized broadly.
