Solana AI System Leaves Buyers and Sellers Vulnerable to Payment Risks
Solana's AI system can process over one million payments per second, but this convenience comes with risks for both sellers and buyers. A payment channel allows customers to fund a prepaid ceiling through signed messages, reducing the need for separate blockchain transactions for every delivery. However, if the operator goes silent between authorizations, the customer may be left unpaid even after delivering the service.
The Solana Foundation's payment-channel announcement reported more than one million payments per second through a proxy using 100,000 unique wallets. The system finances different parts of the interval between authorization and collection: customer deposits, operator advances for fees and refundable account rent, and merchant services awaiting on-chain payment.
A warning in the Foundation-linked benchmark template makes this interval consequential, stating that restarting its default in-memory store can forfeit vouchers accepted but not yet settled. The template reports about 1.09 million verified vouchers per second on a 128-core AVX-512 host during a sustained 10-minute run.
