Solana and XRP Soar on Crypto Market Rally
A massive surge in the crypto market saw Solana and XRP prices jump by over 10% on August 19. The rally was driven by a Bitcoin-led recovery, which lifted the entire market.
Solana's price surge was particularly notable, reclaiming its 200-day Moving Average (MA) for the first time since November last year. It also broke above its July high of $84 and hit a 3-month high of $87.20. This could be seen as a bullish signal.
However, analysts warn that a true breakout from Solana's 2026 price range of $76-$98 is still needed to confirm sustained upward momentum. If Solana bulls can push the price above $100 and hold it as support, it could see an additional 16% gain, potentially reversing some of its 2025 losses.
XRP's price surge was less impressive, with it only reaching $1.10 despite being below its 200-day MA at $1.27. Analysts believe there is still room for XRP to hit the 200-day MA level, which could see an additional 17.5% gain. However, this would require XRP to hold above the July support zone of $1.0.
The rally was fueled by a Bitcoin short-squeeze and spot demand from US-based SOL and XRP ETFs. The next move in the market will depend on the direction of Bitcoin and upcoming economic data, including the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index due to be released next week.
