Solana Challenges Ripple as XRP Sees $240 Mid-2027 Prediction
Crypto Captain, a commentator on X, has predicted that XRP could reach $8 by the end of 2024 and $240 by mid-2027. While the $8 target was described as "very reasonable," the $240 prediction lacks detailed calculations. Other analysts, such as Charusan, have proposed even higher targets, with Charusan's model suggesting $324.22 per XRP based on institutional settlement demand.
Solana has entered the institutional settlement market with its new delivery-versus-payment (DvP) program, developed with input from JPMorgan. This program aims to provide a standardized settlement solution for institutions, potentially competing with Ripple's ambitions in the same space. Ripple's XRP Ledger also offers atomic settlement features, but Solana's new program presents another option for institutional users.
Meanwhile, XRP Ledger operators face a critical deadline to upgrade their systems ahead of a security amendment expected to activate on October 9. The amendment, part of XRPL version 3.4.1, includes fixes for batch transactions and other security enhancements. Failure to upgrade could result in servers becoming amendment-blocked and unable to synchronize with the network.
Despite the growing competition and institutional interest, the actual impact on XRP's price remains uncertain. While settlement activity on the XRP Ledger has increased, including AI-related payments, this does not necessarily translate into higher demand for XRP. The connection between settlement growth and XRP's price targets remains speculative.
