Solana developers have poured cold water on rumors of an Alpenglow mainnet launch on September 28, with co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko responding to speculation with a single word: decel. This suggests that the upgrade, which targets 150-millisecond finality, will not be activated as soon as previously thought.

The rumored date likely originated from Anza's Agave v4.3 release schedule, which lists September 28 as the day mainnet resumes feature activation. However, this entry does not mention Alpenglow, and a subsequent update shows that the next mainnet activation window is set for November 9.

This cautious approach comes after a recent network issue in August pushed Solana close to a halt, prompting concerns about rushing through consensus changes.
