Solana DEXs Outpace NYSE in Individual Trades Processed
Solana's decentralized exchanges (DEXs) have reached an impressive milestone. They processed more individual trades last week than the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). This marks a significant achievement for blockchain technology, with Solana DEXs logging roughly 208 million spot trades between September 14 and 20.
This surpasses the NYSE's trade count of around 189 million during the same period. The difference is substantial, with a gap of 19 million trades in favor of the decentralized network. This achievement is all the more remarkable given that Solana DEXs operate continuously, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The platforms built on Solana, such as Jupiter, Raydium, and Orca, have contributed significantly to this impressive trade count. These exchanges are run by bots, arbitrage scripts, and retail traders who can participate at any hour of the day or night.
However, it's essential to note that trade count does not necessarily equate to trade value. Solana DEXs moved approximately $17.3 billion in the week of September 14 to 20. While this is a substantial amount, it pales in comparison to the NYSE's daily trading volume.
