Solana Dominates Fee Generation as 71% of Blockchains Collect Zero
On October 3, 2026, DefiLlama's chain fees dashboard tracked 558 blockchains. Among them, a staggering 71%, or 399 chains, generated zero fees over the previous 24 hours.
This means that most of these blockchains are essentially empty and unused by their customers. In fact, out of the same group, 443 chains collected less than $10 in fees during that period.
However, there is a small but significant exception. Seven blockchains stood out from the rest, collecting over $100,000 in fees. Solana led the pack with an impressive $1.09 million in fees, followed closely by Tron and BSC (Binance Smart Chain).
Ethereum and Bitcoin, two of the largest names in crypto, ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network, came in sixth, while Robinhood Chain barely cleared the $100,000 threshold.
