Solana Dominates Tokenized Gold Market with 689% Growth
Solana's tokenized gold market has experienced explosive growth since August 2025, surging by an impressive 689%.
This makes Solana the fastest-growing blockchain for on-chain precious metals, with physical gold prices breaching $5,000 per ounce in early 2026.
The growth is largely driven by three protocols: Oro Finance, Matrixdock, and Streamex. These projects offer tokenized gold products that can be used as collateral, liquidity pool assets, or yield-generating instruments within DeFi protocols.
Oro Finance's $GOLD token, launched in September 2025, offers an APY of 3-4% through institutional leasing arrangements, raising $1.5 million in pre-seed funding in March 2025. Matrixdock entered the scene with XAUm, a token backed by LBMA-certified gold, while Streamex provides similar yield-bearing features.
The entire tokenized gold market has been on a tear, with total market capitalization approaching $4.8 billion to $6 billion across gold and silver assets. Solana recorded an average quarterly growth rate of 213.2% through the first half of 2026, outpacing other chains.
However, investors should be aware of counterparty risk and concentration risk within Solana's tokenized gold ecosystem. A vulnerability or custody failure at one project could shake confidence across the entire sector.
