Solana Expands Transaction Capacity as Institutional Demand Rises
Solana's mainnet transaction-size limit has been increased from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes, tripling the amount of data that can be carried in a single transaction.
This expansion is significant because blockchain applications increasingly require more information to be processed within individual transactions. Solana's previous limit could constrain transactions involving complex cryptographic operations.
The larger transaction ceiling creates additional room for larger zero-knowledge proofs, multisignature transactions, and other data-intensive instructions. This will give developers greater flexibility to construct applications around sophisticated cryptographic infrastructure.
Meanwhile, BitMine's continued accumulation of Solana has pushed its holdings to approximately 4.9% of the cryptocurrency's total supply, leaving roughly $359 million in purchases between the company and its stated 5% target.
