Solana Expands Transaction Size Limit to 4096 Bytes

Solana's mainnet upgrade has significantly increased its transaction size limit to 4,096 bytes, giving developers more room for complex operations. This move is aimed at helping developers 'do more' with applications such as zero-knowledge proofs and transactions requiring multiple signatures.

The upgrade was activated on Tuesday at the start of epoch 1,035 around 1:00 am UTC. It also introduced the v1 transaction format, which maintains full backward compatibility with legacy transactions.

This change allows developers to fit more complex operations into a single transaction, something that previously couldn't be done due to size limitations. The upgrade is expected to help improve latency and accelerate confirmations on the blockchain network.
