Solana Gets Regulated Finance with Metaplex's MPL-3643 Standard

Metaplex has announced MPL-3643, a new standard for permissioned real-world assets and tokenized securities on Solana. The standard is designed to bring regulated finance onto the blockchain, allowing issuers to embed eligibility and transfer rules directly into tokens.

MPL-3643 builds on existing Solana infrastructure, including Token-2022, the Solana Attestation Service, and sRFC 37. This allows for a transfer check to run before it settles, confirming the sender, recipient, jurisdiction, and holding period all satisfy the issuer's rules.

The standard is modeled after ERC-3643 on Ethereum, but with a different architecture. MPL-3643 uses Solana's native extensions and the Attestation Service, giving Solana a comparable compliance framework without replicating Ethereum's contract-heavy design.
