Solana's network has just sped up its block production by 17% thanks to a recent upgrade. The blockchain's target slot time, which is the window validators have to produce blocks, has been reduced from 300 milliseconds to 250ms.

This change is part of Solana's plan to speed up its network, with four stages in total. The third stage, which this update represents, aims to shave off a bit more time from each slot. However, it's essential to note that this upgrade doesn't increase the number of transactions processed; instead, blocks arrive faster but with proportionally less computation.

The main beneficiaries of this change are applications that rely on real-time data, such as oracles and automated market makers. These apps can now execute trades more quickly without worrying about stale price feeds.
