Solana Speeds Up Blocks as Bitcoin ETFs See $1.9 Billion Inflows
Solana's mainnet slot time has been reduced to 350 milliseconds, shaving off about 12% from its previous block interval. This change is expected to reduce network latency and speed up transactions on the Solana blockchain.
The reduction in slot time was approved in May through a technical proposal called SIMD-0525. The new block interval is designed primarily to lower network latency rather than boost throughput. As each leader is assigned four consecutive slots, shortening the slot time from 400 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds cuts the four-slot leader rotation interval from 1.6 seconds to about 1.4 seconds.
Meanwhile, spot Bitcoin ETFs have seen a significant influx of funds last week. According to SoSoValue, the net inflows for these ETFs reached $1.918 billion, with BlackRock's IBIT leading the pack at $1.331 billion. Fidelity's FBTC followed closely behind with weekly net inflows of $293 million.
The total net asset value of spot Bitcoin ETFs has surpassed $96.07 billion, with a cumulative net inflow since inception totaling $53.71 billion. The ETF net asset ratio stands at 6.17%.
