Solana Surges 11%, But Is It a Rotation or Just Market Momentum?
The cryptocurrency market experienced a notable surge on September 18, with Solana leading the charge. On that day, Solana opened at $101.52 and soared to $114.34 before closing at $112.70, marking an 11% increase in its price.
In contrast, Bitcoin rose by 5.9%, opening at $76,349 and hitting a high of $81,388 before closing at $80,875.
The market's upward momentum was attributed to two critical rate decisions: the Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points on September 16, and the Bank of Japan hiked its benchmark rate to 1.25% on September 18.
This led to a short squeeze, where liquidation of about $170 million in short positions triggered exchanges to purchase back coins, further propelling prices upward.
