Fiserv's digital-asset platform is now live, marking an important milestone in the adoption of blockchain technology by traditional financial institutions. The first production use case for this platform is Roughrider Coin, a dollar-backed stablecoin created for Bank of North Dakota to facilitate interbank money movement across the state.

Roughrider Coin transactions are processed on Solana, while VersaBank serves as issuer and Fireblocks supplies tokenization and security infrastructure. This deployment gives Solana a significant role in a regulated interbank payment product, rather than just another retail crypto application.

The use of blockchain technology in this context is notable, as it represents a shift away from traditional settlement methods. The combination of banking, tokenization, and public blockchain is expected to make interbank money movement more efficient.
