Solana's Alpenglow Activation Hits Major Milestone with Testnet Finality Upgrade

Solana's planned consensus rewrite, Alpenglow, has moved from a closed rehearsal environment to the network's public test clusters. Anza, the firm that maintains the Agave validator client, said that Alpenglow completed its testnet activation process.

As part of this development, Solana's testnet and devnet have switched to 100-150ms finality. This is a significant improvement in transaction processing speed for these environments.
