Solana's Alpenglow Upgrade Clears First Major Hurdle with Over 300 Bug Bounty Submissions
Solana's ambitious Alpenglow consensus upgrade has cleared its first major hurdle after attracting over 300 submissions to its bug bounty program. The competition, run by Anza, offered a reward pool of up to 50,000 SOL, with payouts determined by the severity of the vulnerabilities found.
The Alpenglow upgrade aims to significantly reduce transaction finality times from the current 12.8 seconds to between 100 and 150 milliseconds. The bug bounty specifically targeted critical components within the Agave validator codebase, including crates related to voting and consensus logic.
The competition ran from August 5 to August 19, with a non-refundable submission fee of 0.5 SOL per report. Each vulnerability report was filed privately using GitHub Security Advisories, with adjudication extending through September 2.
