Solana's Modest Price Gain Attributed to Protocol Upgrades and Institutional Flows
Solana's recent price increase of 3.24% over two days is attributed to several modest, positive catalysts rather than a single significant event.
The ongoing performance upgrade cycle has improved Solana's technology narrative. The phased activation of the Agave 4.2 validator client on mainnet has introduced substantial rent reductions, larger transaction sizes, and faster slot times. These changes aim to reduce storage costs by up to 90% for many account types, support more complex transactions, and gradually reduce slot times from 400ms to 200ms without sacrificing stability.
Institutional flows and large-holder activity have also contributed to the price increase. ARK Invest increased its exposure to a Solana staking ETF on August 17, buying 7,115 shares of the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF. This move supported short-term sentiment and attracted copycat flows.
