Stablecoin Cross-Border Flows Rise 78%, Defying Crypto Bear Market
Despite the broader crypto market downturn, stablecoin cross-border flows have surged by 77.5% in the past year to $220.3 billion, according to Chainalysis' 2026 Global Crypto Adoption Index.
The growth points to increasing demand for cryptocurrencies beyond speculative trading, with stablecoins gaining a foothold in mainstream finance.
Cross-border transfers averaged around $3,000, consistent with everyday use cases such as supplier payments and sending money home or moving savings out of volatile currencies.
Philip Gradwell, vice president of economics at Tether, noted that the steady rhythm of activity is 'the signature of trade and business activity, not speculation.'
