Stablecoin Cross-Border Flows Soar 78%, Defying Crypto Bear Market
The growth of cross-border stablecoin flows has surged 77.5% in the year to June 2026, reaching $220.3 billion, according to Chainalysis' 2026 Global Crypto Adoption Index.
This increase comes despite a decline in the total crypto market capitalization by 37% over the same period, from $2.1 trillion.
Chainalysis attributes this growth to the increasing demand for stablecoins beyond speculative trading, pointing out that cross-border transfers average around $3,000, consistent with everyday use cases such as supplier payments and sending money home.
Philip Gradwell, vice president of economics at Tether, notes that activity has become more consistent, routed through wallets in a steady rhythm rather than in bursts, which is characteristic of trade and business activity, not speculation.
