Stablecoins Reach 300M Users as Apps Like Rizon Push Dollar Banking to 122 Countries
Stablecoins are on the rise, with over 300 million unique users in the past 12 months. This number is based on analytics firm Artemis's tally of unique on-chain addresses transacting in stablecoins, not a verified headcount of people.
The growth of stablecoins is running opposite to the retail crypto trading market, which has cooled down. However, institutions are increasingly adopting stablecoins for real-world use cases.
Sami Start, co-founder of Transak, explained that the total addressable market is much larger on the stablecoin side than the crypto side now. Raj Kamal, who runs TransFi, said that stablecoins are just starting to scratch the surface of their potential, as they do very little volume compared to traditional payments.
Regulation has played a significant role in the growth of stablecoins, with the Genius Act signed by Trump creating rules on how stablecoins should be managed. Europe's MiCA regulation offers 'pretty clear and straightforward' guidelines for software built on top.
