Stand With Crypto Endorses Congressional Candidates Ahead of Midterms
Stand With Crypto, an industry-aligned organization launched by Coinbase in 2023 to promote 'clear, common-sense regulations for the crypto industry', has announced its picks for the next session of the US Congress. The group is backing Republican candidates Jon Husted in Ohio and Ashley Hinson in Iowa, as well as Democrat Chris Pappas in New Hampshire. These endorsements come as many polls show Democrats are favored to regain control of the House and Senate in 2027.
In addition to these Senate seats, Stand With Crypto has also endorsed several House of Representatives candidates, including Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Iowa and Democrat Shomari Figures in Alabama. The group's picks come on the heels of a failed vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act, which did not get enough votes in the Republican-controlled Senate earlier this month.
The CLARITY Act had passed the House with bipartisan support in 2025 but was met with resistance in the Senate. Stand With Crypto warned of 'consequences' for lawmakers who did not support the bill after the failed vote on September 15th. The group has also endorsed 32 House candidates it calls 'proven digital asset policy champions', citing their potential to sway voters in key races.
The endorsements come as some candidates have already been flooded with money from the crypto industry, filtered through political action committees (PACs) and direct donations to campaigns. The Fairshake PAC, a group largely backed by contributions from Coinbase, Ripple Labs and Andreessen Horowitz, has pledged to spend $30 million supporting Husted over Brown in Ohio.
