Standard Chartered Buys Back Shares, Helps Facilitate Bermuda Bitcoin Trade
Standard Chartered PLC has made significant moves in both share buybacks and Bitcoin trading. The company repurchased shares offshore, totaling approximately 1.12 million shares worth around £24.3 million through three separate transactions on August 28 and September 1-2.
The first transaction on August 28 involved 376,012 shares purchased for around £8.1 million. On September 1, Standard Chartered repurchased 370,936 shares for approximately £8.0 million. The third buyback occurred on September 2, with the company purchasing 374,240 shares worth around £8.2 million.
In addition to these share buybacks, Standard Chartered played a crucial role in Bermuda's first regulated institutional spot Bitcoin trade. Partnering with Cumberland DRW, the company served as the liquidity taker for this significant milestone in the region.
