Stellar's XLM Token Sees Volatility Amid Growing Network Capabilities
Stellar's native token XLM has been around since 2014 and is used for various purposes, including transaction fees, account reserves, asset exchange, and payments. Its price history shows a mix of rallies and corrections, with its all-time high reaching $0.9381 in January 2018.
The Stellar Development Foundation supports the ecosystem's development, and the network uses the Stellar Consensus Protocol based on federated Byzantine agreement. This design does not require competitive cryptocurrency mining.
According to the source, approximately 50 billion XLM remain in existence, with no additional lumens being created. The current XLM price is around $0.22, and the token has a market capitalization of $7.75 billion.
