Strategy Continues Bitcoin Buying, Sees Rising Prices as Boost to Capital Access
Strategy, a company that has been buying Bitcoin (BTC) for some time, has resumed its purchases over the last two weeks. As a result, the company now holds a total of 847,666 BTC. In a recent interview with Binance, Strategy's president, Michael Saylor, discussed the company's approach to acquiring BTC.
Saylor stated that Strategy does not have a fixed target for Bitcoin assets and will continue to purchase them as it raises capital through equity and loan products. He emphasized that the rise in Bitcoin's price could support further BTC purchases by reducing the company's funding costs.
Saylor explained that the appreciation of Bitcoin, which has a limited supply, is a key factor in Strategy's financing model. He noted that increased investor interest and market acceptance of the product could reduce the additional return demanded by investors, thereby lowering Strategy's funding costs.
Saylor also highlighted the company's $152 million STRC buyback announced on September 28 as an example of its active capital management strategy. He emphasized that Bitcoin itself does not generate interest income, and that appreciation in BTC price and efficient capital management remain fundamental elements of Strategy's Bitcoin-focused financing model.
Saylor concluded that Strategy remains a net buyer of Bitcoin, but noted that accumulating more BTC will become exponentially more difficult as the Bitcoin price rises.
