Strategy Inc Surges on $1.59 Billion Bitcoin Treasury Allocation
Strategy Inc's shares surged by 4.7% on Monday after the company announced it had set aside $1.59 billion for potential Bitcoin purchases and other treasury operations.
The new 'USD Cash' component of its Digital Credit Capital Framework provides a separately designated pool of U.S. dollar liquidity for general Bitcoin Treasury Company purposes, which may include acquiring Bitcoin, paying dividends on preferred stock, repurchasing securities, and repaying outstanding debt.
As of August 23, Strategy reported a USD Reserve balance of $5.10 billion and USD Cash balance of $1.59 billion. The company sold 18,261,118 shares of MSTR Stock through its at-the-market offering program during the period from August 17 to August 23, generating $2.01 billion in net proceeds.
The remaining proceeds were allocated as follows: $136.4 million was used to repurchase STRC Stock, $300 million was added to the USD Reserve, and the remainder went to the USD Cash account.
