Strategy Pushes Daily Dividends as MSCI Framework Challenged
Strategy Chairman Michael Saylor is pushing for daily dividends on his company's preferred securities. The move would allow dividends to accrue every calendar day, including weekends and holidays, with payments made on the next business day.
The proposal applies to four of Strategy's preferred stocks: STRF, STRC, STRK, and STRD. Saylor said the changes are intended to support 'price stability, liquidity, and demand.' The company's proposal will go to shareholders for a vote ending October 28.
Strategy has been working to make its preferred securities easier to trade and more responsive to market demand. Its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC) already shifted from monthly to semi-monthly dividend record and payment dates earlier this year.
Matt Cole, CEO of Strive, challenged MSCI's classification framework for Bitcoin treasury companies. He argued that these companies use Bitcoin and cash as capital inputs, manage liquidity and risk, and create differentiated financial products for investors.
