Strategy Sells More Bitcoin as Preferred Stock Recovers Toward Par Value
Strategy's (NASDAQ: MSTR) commitment to accumulating Bitcoin has eroded over time. The company, led by Michael Saylor, has rebranded its operating model as a Digital Credit Framework, which uses Bitcoin as collateral for debt and preferred-stock obligations.
The shift in focus is reflected in the company's recent sale of 1,638 BTC to raise $104.7 million and bolster its USD Reserve. This transaction underscores how Strategy's priorities have shifted from accumulation to cash-flow management.
Strategy sold its Bitcoin at an average price of $63,957 per coin, resulting in a loss of approximately $11,462 per bitcoin sold or 15.2%. Saylor has stated that the company's buying represents meaningful upward pressure on the asset's price, implying significant implications for broader crypto market sentiment.
However, investors should focus on the recovery of Strategy's preferred stock, STRC (NASDAQ: STRC), which has gained approximately 35% in value since bottoming at $70 in June. Reaching its par value of $100 could signal an end to the selling cycle and potentially trigger new Bitcoin purchases.
