Strategy Sets New Record for Corporate Bitcoin Holdings
Strategy, the company behind the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, has increased its BTC stockpile to an all-time high of 847,666 coins. The purchase was made at an average price of $85,681 per coin and is part of a larger trend of corporate buying in the cryptocurrency market.
In a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on September 28, Strategy revealed that it had acquired 1,665 BTC for $142.7 million during the week through September 27. This purchase brought its total holdings to an all-time high, surpassing the previous record of 847,363 coins reported in June.
The company's return to buying Bitcoin follows a summer pause, during which it sold a combined 6,948 BTC to raise cash and replenish its dollar reserves. The latest acquisition brings Strategy's cumulative Bitcoin investment to $63.95 billion, including fees and expenses, at an overall average cost of $75,437 per coin.
The market value of Strategy's Bitcoin holdings is now around $70.1 billion, leaving a modest unrealized gain on the aggregate holding, despite a paper loss of approximately $5 million on the newest batch.
