Strategy Signals Shift from Defense to Offense with 'Bitcoin Drive Engaged'
Strategy, the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder, has responded to its recent $8.2 billion loss in trademark fashion. Michael Saylor, Strategy chairman, posted a laconic message on social media: 'Bitcoin Drive engaged.' This may be seen as a signal that the company is ending its forced defensive phase and could soon return to major cryptocurrency purchases.
The bullish teaser appeared immediately after the publication of an extremely difficult financial report. The company posted a net loss of $8.22 billion for the second quarter of 2026, with the reason being entirely paper-based. Bitcoin fell 14% over the three-month period, from $68,000 to $58,600, resulting in a massive accounting loss on Strategy's assets.
Strategy currently controls an impressive 843,775 BTC, representing more than 4% of Bitcoin's total maximum supply. With an average purchase price of $75,653 per coin and Bitcoin currently trading near $63,061, the portfolio's unrealized loss exceeds $10 billion.
