Strategy Unloads 1,638 Bitcoin for $104.7 Million to Fund Dividends and STRC Repurchases
Strategy, an investment company known for its significant Bitcoin holdings, has made substantial sales to fund dividends and repurchases of its preferred stock, STRC. Between July 27 and Sunday, Strategy sold 1,638 Bitcoin at an average price of $63,957, generating a total of $104.7 million. This sale marks the second-largest BTC transaction by the company this year.
Of the proceeds from the Bitcoin sales, $52.4 million was allocated towards funding dividend payments on STRC preferred stock, while another $52.3 million was used for repurchasing STRC shares. Strategy's current holdings now stand at 842,138 Bitcoin, which were acquired at an aggregate cost of $63.5 billion.
Furthermore, the company raised $290.6 million through MSTR share sales during this period. This amount was distributed as follows: $250 million to bolster its USD reserve, which has grown to $4 billion; $28.9 million for STRC repurchases; and $11.7 million added to Strategy's cash balance.
