Stripe Expands Stablecoin Cards to 100 Countries by Year End
Stripe is accelerating its expansion in the stablecoin space, aiming to bring its stablecoin card services to over 100 countries by the end of 2026. The company’s new cryptocurrency head, Henri Stern, revealed this plan in an interview with CoinDesk. Stern, who is also the CEO and co-founder of Privy, a crypto wallet infrastructure firm acquired by Stripe last year, now oversees stablecoins and crypto at Stripe.
Stripe’s stablecoin card offering integrates its existing card-issuing infrastructure, which has issued over 400 million cards since 2018, with Bridge’s stablecoin technology. Bridge was acquired by Stripe in 2024. The service is designed to be agnostic to both stablecoins and blockchains, allowing customers to customize their preferred stack.
Stern emphasized Stripe’s goal to create the best stablecoin developer platform, describing it as open, modular, and global by default. He shared his vision on X, stating that he will help set Stripe’s priorities in the crypto space. The expansion aligns with Stripe’s partnership with Visa, which announced in March 2026 that it would extend its stablecoin-linked card issuance product globally.
Additionally, Stripe recently added Open USD (OUSD) to its stablecoin options for businesses. OUSD, launched on June 30, 2026, is described as a money movement stablecoin and went live on September 30, 2026.
