Sunday Rally, Monday Dump: Crypto Market Warns of Possible Reversal
Market analysts are sounding the alarm as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana have all flashed technical warnings ahead of the new trading week. A recurring pattern, dubbed the 'Sunday pump, Monday dump,' has resurfaced, where sharp price moves on Sundays often reverse at the start of Monday. This phenomenon has been observed over the past month, with Bitcoin's Sunday gains repeatedly fading into pullbacks, and Sunday declines resulting in Monday rebounds.
Market analyst Ali Charts, who frequently shares insights on X, first highlighted this pattern on October 4. He noted that each of the last four comparable sell signals for Bitcoin corresponded with a subsequent correction, with the TD Sequential indicator flashing a sell signal on Bitcoin's four-hour chart. This alignment of Sunday price rallies and sequential sell signals across leading cryptocurrencies increases the probability of a broad pullback at the start of the new week.
The TD Sequential sell signals on Ethereum and Solana have also been accompanied by significant price corrections, with Ethereum experiencing declines of 5.40% and 3.31%, and Solana experiencing corrections of 2.44%, 5.76%, and 5.30%. The convergence of calendar-based market behavior and technical signals has reinforced trader expectations for a possible reversal.
