Sunday Surge: Bitcoin Approaches $87,000 as Treasury Yields and Fed Cues Weigh In
Cryptocurrency markets saw a surge in prices on Sunday, with Bitcoin briefly approaching $87,000. Ethereum rose to $2,730, and Dogecoin increased by 4% over the previous day. This uptrend comes as investors weigh in on Treasury yields and the Federal Reserve's cues on interest rate policy.
The global cryptocurrency market capitalization crossed $3 trillion after an increase of 0.70% over the last 24 hours. Roughly $130 million was liquidated from the market, with $105 million in bearish short positions wiped out, according to Coinglass data.
Bitcoin's open interest surged 4.47% over the last 24 hours after the spot price increased. This suggests higher long exposure, as indicated by the Long/Short Ratio flipping over 1. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index also shows 'greed' sentiment prevailing in the market.
Analyst Ali Martinez noted that Bitcoin's recent Sunday gains have reversed into Monday declines, while Sunday declines have preceded rebounds. Martinez added, 'With BTC up more than 1% today, that pattern is back in focus.'
