TapTools Abandons NFT Sale Amid Community Backlash and Trust Issues
TapTools, a firm in the Cardano ecosystem, has abandoned its community NFT sale after users reacted angrily to its return. The company had shut down in June due to infrastructure and development costs, but announced on September 2 that it was attempting to revive itself.
The team described this as 'Phase One' of their return, and said they wanted to bring the platform back through community support. However, users quickly took issue with the $NFT sale of 777 pieces at 777 ADA each, calling it 'dumb and extractive' and accusing TapTools of being either a scam or trying to scam users.
TapTools later acknowledged that they had misread the situation and apologized for their mistake. However, this was met with skepticism by Cardano's founder Charles Hoskinson, who responded by sharing a South Park parody of BP's repeated apologies after the Gulf oil spill.
