Tether Freezes $514M in USDT Amid Ongoing Blacklisting Activity
Tether has frozen over $514 million in USDT across 370 addresses on Ethereum and Tron over the past 30 days, according to BlockSec's data.
The majority of these frozen funds, approximately $505.9 million, are located on the Tron network, while Ethereum accounts for around $8.73 million.
This is part of a larger trend in Tether blacklisting activity. In 2025 alone, BlockSec's analysis found that Tether froze $1.26 billion in USDT across both chains, with over half of these funds later destroyed using the 'destroyBlackFunds' function.
A separate study by AMLBot estimated that Tether immobilized around $3.3 billion across 7,268 addresses from 2023 to 2025, exceeding the volume frozen by rival stablecoin issuer Circle over the same timeframe.
