Tether Freezes $550M in USDT Linked to Iranian Sanctions Network
Tether has frozen approximately $550 million in USDT linked to Iran, according to a recent statement from the company.
The freeze is part of Tether's ongoing cooperation with U.S. and international authorities to combat illicit activities on public blockchains.
According to Tether, its efforts have supported over 2,900 global investigations, including more than 1,600 involving U.S. law enforcement agencies.
The recent freeze is linked to the Central Bank of Iran and Iran's sanction network, with two addresses previously identified by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) as digital currency identifiers for the Central Bank of Iran.
