Tether Freezes Nearly $550M in Iran-Linked USDT Under US Sanctions
Tether has frozen nearly USD 550 million in USDT linked to Iran for US authorities this year, as part of Washington's expanding sanctions on cryptocurrency networks.
The stablecoin issuer helped freeze more than USD 474 million across two TRON addresses in April and July, following information from US authorities.
The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control added the addresses to its Central Bank of Iran sanctions entry on April 24 and again on July 14, linking them to the IRGC Qods Force and Hezbollah.
