Tether Issues $495 Million in Gold-Backed Digital Currency

Tether's latest issuance is not what you think it is, according to a recent announcement from blockchain data platform Arkham. The company claims that Tether's latest minted tokens are actually worth approximately $495 million in gold-backed digital currency XAUT (Tether Gold).

This means that instead of USDT being the newly minted token, it is XAUT that has been created.

The value of XAUT has increased by 1.22% to around $4.17K.
