Tokenization Set to Reshape Markets with $1.9 Trillion Growth Prediction
CFTC Chairman Michael Selig believes that asset tokenization is on the cusp of explosive growth.
This has significant implications for companies like Robinhood and Solana, which are well-positioned to benefit from this trend.
The process of tokenization involves representing ownership information as a digital token managed on a blockchain. It's not about buying tokenized assets directly, but rather investing in the services that facilitate this process or the blockchain networks that enable it.
Solana is one such network, with over $491 million in tokenized stocks on its chain as of September 25. However, the company has faced criticism for its handling of fees, with some estimates suggesting that it destroys only half of each base fee charged to users.
Rather than investing in tokenized assets directly, investors may be better off buying into companies like Robinhood or Solana, which are generating revenue from their blockchain services. The McKinsey consultancy predicts that the sum of tokenized assets will reach $1.9 trillion by 2030, up from a mere $38.6 billion today.
