Tokenized Equities Reach $3 Billion, Redefining Wall Street Trading
The Wall Street landscape is undergoing a significant transformation as tokenized equities continue to gain traction. By putting stocks onto blockchain rails, companies are enabling continuous trading and settlement, even outside traditional market hours.
According to recent data, the tokenized equity sector has grown exponentially, with over $3 billion in assets represented on-chain by September. This represents a significant milestone for the sector, which is one of the fastest-growing areas of real-world asset tokenization.
The growth in trading activity is also noteworthy, with monthly volumes reaching as high as 5.9 billion in August, a sharp increase from January's 7 million. The figures suggest that trading activity has expanded much faster than the outstanding tokenized-equity base.
In addition to the growing asset base and trading volume, on-chain transfer activity has also seen a significant surge, reaching approximately $1.2 billion in Q3. This indicates that tokenized equities are being moved between blockchain addresses and financial venues at an increasingly larger scale.
