Tom Lee Pushes for CLARITY Act as Crypto Industry Seeks Clear Federal Standard

Share

Fundstrat's Tom Lee is advocating for the CLARITY Act, which aims to create a single national body to oversee crypto in the US. Currently, there is no clear rulebook for crypto, and this act would establish the CFTC as that governing body.

The significance of this act lies not only in providing clarity but also in addressing concerns from big banks and asset managers who want to build stablecoin systems and put real-world assets on the blockchain. However, with every state having its own rules, companies get nervous about investing.

Lee points out that firms like Charles Schwab and Franklin Templeton are already in favor of the CLARITY Act, which is a significant development considering their mainstream financial status.

Lee compares this moment to 1934 when the US created the SEC due to conflicting state rules hindering investors. Similarly, crypto is facing the same issue, and Lee believes that having one clear federal standard would greatly benefit the industry.
