Trader Misses $3 Million Profit After Selling PONS Tokens Too Early

Share

The cryptocurrency market can be unpredictable and requires both skill and luck to secure profits. A recent case study by Lookonchain highlights this, where a trader bought 7.99 million PONS tokens for $443,000 a month ago but sold them shortly after, resulting in a $308,000 loss.

The price of PONS plummeted initially, prompting the investor to cash out. However, the coin experienced a significant pump, with its value increasing by approximately 1,100% over two weeks. Lookonchain estimated that the same 7.99 million coins would now be worth around $3.46 million, indicating a potential profit of at least $3 million for the investor.

This incident is not an isolated case, as there have been previous instances where traders made similar mistakes. In the summer of 2024, another trader spent over $900,000 to buy 7.2 million Restore the Republic (RTR) tokens but eventually sold them for only $18,000 after the token's price crashed.
