TRON Dominates World Cup Ticket Settlements with USDT

TRON has emerged as the dominant blockchain network for World Cup ticket settlements using stablecoins. According to Uquid Tickets, a blockchain-enabled ticketing platform, over 65% of its 4,900 ticket sales were settled in USDT on the TRON network during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The platform reported a 450% surge in traffic during the tournament and processed just under 5,000 ticket sales. The integration with TRON was announced on April 13, 2026, giving Uquid only a few months to promote its service before the World Cup kicked off.

The choice of TRON for these transactions is not surprising given its reputation for low fees and fast transaction speeds. The use of USDT also provides certainty on price and speed, making it an attractive option for international buyers. While this is just a proof of concept at scale, the implications for stablecoin usage and on-chain activity are significant.
