Tron Supply Squeeze Looms as Institutional Demand Surges
The launch of Canary Capital's staked TRX ETF (TRXS) has raised questions about whether it will trigger a supply squeeze in the TRON cryptocurrency. Despite the lackluster price performance of $TRX, which gained only 1% in August compared to Ethereum's 30%, the Tron blockchain is actively accumulating liquidity with over 2% increase in USDT supply in the last thirty days.
Tron has overtaken Ethereum in terms of total USDT supply, with more than 50% of the total Tether supply now on the Tron blockchain. This suggests that investors are holding onto TRX rather than selling it, which could lead to a supply shock and a price move if more $TRX is locked up for staking.
Justin Sun recently pointed out that several heavyweight institutions like BlackRock, Vanguard, and Goldman Sachs have entered the shareholder register of Tron Inc. (NASDAQ: TRON), further indicating growing institutional interest in $TRX.
