TRON's $30 Trillion Milestone Raises Red Flags Over Illicit Activity
TRON has reached an impressive milestone of $30 trillion in lifetime transaction volume. This achievement is largely due to its dominance in dollar-denominated transfers, particularly with Tether's USDT stablecoin. The network has processed over 15 billion transactions across 405 million accounts since launch.
The growth of TRON is closely tied to the increasing popularity of stablecoins, which have attracted legitimate users but also enabled illicit activities. According to TRM Labs, TRON handled more than $26 billion of the $45 billion in illicit crypto volume it identified in 2024.
To address these concerns, TRON and Tether have established the T3 Financial Crime Unit with TRM Labs. This unit has frozen over $450 million in illicit assets by May 2026 and works with authorities across 23 jurisdictions to combat financial crimes.
